There is a limited rider base that has shrunk dramatically due to the politics of speedway on the east coast.
Some riders do not like traveling over an hour from their home to race at an event.
Running speedway could potentially take riders from one event to another and thin out the numbers to where there are not enough riders to put on a good event. Though as a couple of other promoters have stated, "it only takes two bikes to have a race".
Reasons to host speedway
To spread the sport and build it up. Give the riders opportunities that they have not had in the past. As the old adage goes, "if you build it, they will come". This is our motto. We are looking for new fresh riders as we are able to source incredible deals on bikes, parts and so on and so forth. We also have the backing of international riders and clubs.
Absolutely yes, we will run speedway. Even if we have 3 riders show up, we can put on an event and we will grow from there. It is no-brainer. If you love the sport, you make it happen. Another thing, we are planning on creating teams for speedway, and in the end we hope to have the "Oakland Bombers" v "New Castle Coyotes" etc. (Names are given just as an example). This will help riders learn how to ride as a team (essential to racing in Europe) and develop talent in a way perpetual individual events can't succeed.
So watch out for the calendar for 2021 and come along and support the speedway events we put on. We had some great racing last time out.
the Inevitable happens
I genuinely never wanted to write this, but we all are looking at a complete shut down of racing worldwide due to the coronavirus / covid-19 pandemic. This is sad but also unavoidable at the moment. This does give S360 time to plan ahead for the 2021 season and we hope to have bring you a couple of great events.
Pit Bike Flat Track Racing
We are in talks about starting our very own Speedway360 pit bike flat track racing series. It will be a non-AMA outlaw open championship. We are looking to run at a couple of different venues in New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware and are now open for sponsors for the 5 round series.
How the calendar will work
Round 1 Oval
Round 2 TT
Round 3 Oval
Round 5 - heats on oval, TT Main Event.
Two heats with 1st grid chosen at random, 2nd grid reverse of the 1st grid and the final being based on points scored.
Technical details on bike specification will be on the site soon.
